Outstanding Georgia Citizen

 

Sumter County Board of Elections Members participated in the February GAVREO Conference in Jekyll Island, GA. Dr. Roberts participated online.

 

Shown above are Dennis Taylor and Carson Walker with their Georgia Election Official Certificates, who now join Dr. Shirley Latimore and the other board members as having completed their required certification courses.

2022

2021

James Gaston was selected by the Sumter County  Board of Commissioners to fill the unexpired term of Herschel Morris on The Board of Elections and Voter Registration in 2011. James has faithfully served and will end his service on December 31, 2021.

Receently, a plaque was presented to Gaston from the Board by Vice  Chair Dr. Shirley Latimore and Board Superintendent Randy Howard. The inscription on the plaque is shown below.

SUMTER COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND VOTER REGISTRATION Present to JAMES GASTON Chairman In honor and with deep appreciation of the distinguished and unselfish service given to the Voters of Sumter County, Georgia Secretary of State, and to the Sumter County Board of Elections and Voter Registration as a Board Member and Chairman. He has served with outstanding leadership, integrity and with a vision and wisdom and has represented the Sumter County Board of Elections and Voter Registration since being appointed by the Sumter County Board of Commissioners February 17, 2011-December 31, 2021

 

The Board of Elections and Voter Registration consists of five members appointed by the Sumter County Board of Commissioners. The members serve four-year terms. The 2021 Board consiststed of:
